Please feedback on the structure of the Tavern here.
We are not going to rush to create lots of sub forums, but we are keen to hear your ideas.
Think, is it a forum or is it a sticky thread?

Please also feedback bugs or 'features' that you think are wrong or work oddly to your mind.

Where do you want us to put posts like non-gaming reviews? The Bargain Bookstore? I'd suggest a non-gaming sub-forum like we used to have.

I had sort of thought the Bar for Wyatt have you read and the Bazaar for Bargain Bookstore but maybe you are right and for Reviews we should actually have a Reviews forum for all kinds of proper reviews, gaming and non gaming?

I did like the old Tavern structure where we had a non-gaming section with the Books and Visual subfora. It helped keep the clutter down in the gaming areas. The thing I found with the UK Roleplayers was that The Tavern had a flat structure and it was very easy to loose things in the list, especially The Bargain Bookstore.

So, you'd prefer Books and Visual rather than Bar/Bazaar/Reviews? I'd like to hear what Dom has to say on this as well, since you are the books powerhouses..

With the "What Have You Read" thread do you have thoughts on whether that thread should be all about non-rpg books or whether it's mixture of both? If a distinction is wanted should we have a specific "Which RPG Book Have You Read" thread as a counterpoint. I'm thinking here that this would be for thoughts on a read rather than a full review which is more formal.

In the past that 'What have you Read' thread has drifted between fiction, non-fiction and gaming books.
I am not sure how to address this. For now let's keep rolling organically since I can always create a new forum and mass move threads later.
Let's see how much clarity there is when the froth settles in the Bar, ok?

I did feel that I was a little out of step when I posted in the "What have you read?" thread. I decided to post when I realised that the worst that could happen would be being asked to delete it. I'm very much in support of the Guvnor's suggestion of growth being organic.

One thing I'm noticing now threads are getting longer is that the navigation links 'Home > Forums > Main Category > Topic' disappears off the top of the page. This means a lot of scrolling if you want to go back to that specific forum rather than the main display. (One of the reasons I like having the newest post(s) in a topic on top.)

Any chance of putting that bar in a fixed pane so it doesn't vanish? Or the Forums menu has the board navigation rather than all the new stuff which ought to be in the What's new menu anyway?

Can you enter into a direct conversation with Ezio about that, that's techie enough to need him to explore it with you.

Hi Tom,

Can we not allow guests to post please? EN World (not a member) has dropped a ton of spam on our boards. Yes it maybe relevant to RPGs etc, just I feel that only members should post here and that someone approves people who sign up.

Yeah, you are correct. I've just looked into it. Then may I suggest we can switch these off, Tom? Yes it is D&D related, but it's very random and may not appeal to other members like myself.

Is it possible to exclude posts created by the RSS feed from appearing in What’s New, New Posts, etc? If not then I’m not sure that the integration of RSS feeds with the forum will work well, unless the feeds are very carefully chosen/curated. I like ENWorld, but I don’t think it helps me to see its news items as unread forum posts here.

I think this will only happen at the very first rush of RSS feed updates, and then only new items will be posted here. That might be one day on ENWORLD, much less on Newt's feeds or Phil Masters' convention feed. I know it's a bit shocking today, but just mark them as read, or read them, and let's see what happens in a few days/weeks.
I like the idea of a regular drip of external items.. after all, we can use any of them as thread starters here..

Not sure if this is a structure issue, but I wondered if anything could be done about this:

If you goggle 'UK Roleplaying' the first thing you see is the UK Roleplayers forum. Is there anyway of getting us up there when people goggle subjects like that? Once UK Roleplayers goes down that's the first thing posters will do, trying to find a new site.

Ah.. I see what you are saying. Well we could drop a few hundred quid on Google Adwords, but ... nah ...
