Justa quick note to say that the game plays well when I tried it this weekend, and was really enjoyable. However, we ended up cutting it short due to child invasion and theft of pieces!
The fog of war effect in Columbia's Block Games works really well, and it was rally interesting to see the devastating effect of the high initiative, high combat value pieces like Wallace himself in combat!
One to revisit, perhaps with the Guv.
You may take my game pieces, but you'll never get the rules off me! _________________ "We live in a nuclear powered universe. We're the oddballs by getting energy from burning carbon."

Columbia also have Richard III: War of the Roses out, which should be in the UK soon. It's based on the same system as HOTS and has good reviews.
EDIT: Oops - I see that you already know about it...

HotS Third Edition is out, with a new map (everything else the same). It look gorgeous, but I've better things to spend $30 on at the moment (they sell all components separately as well as complete games, so I can just replace the map for $30).
I really enjoyed the three turns of the game I got to play the other week, before my 2 3/4 yo started nicking dice and blocks... _________________ "We live in a nuclear powered universe. We're the oddballs by getting energy from burning carbon."
